Ines Del Pozo Santos

Ines was the oldest of the Del Pozo Siblings; she was born in 1872.

Ines Del Pozo Santos married Carlos Wilson, an adept accountant from Peru who acquired broad expertise working for companies engaged in the production of fertilizer and for several years he ran his own agricultural fertilizer business in Cuba with a local partner.   The children of this couple were:
Agnes
Carlotta
Charles

The first two daughters of Ines, Agnes and Carlotta, were born before Charles – who was the youngest of the family.

  • El Morro, Cuba

In July 1919, when she was about five months pregnant, Ines traveled from her residence in Cuba to New York so that her son Charles could be born a US Citizen.  It was her first entry into the US and it would be her last. She had come for the sole purpose of giving birth to this third child and was most anxious to leave as soon as possible after her recovery from the childbirth. A few months after his birth she returned to Cuba and later moved with him to Riobamba Ecuador while her husband remained in Cuba and her daughters remained in a New York Boarding school, at least during the school year. She later became ill and in 1929 she died. After her death her young son was brought (by ship) from Ecuador in the custody of his maternal uncle Jose Pastor Del Pozo to be delivered to his father in Panama. His two older sisters were already in boarding schools in New York.

When she passed away in 1928 in Ecuador their ages were:
Agnes : 16 years of age (born in Peru)
Carlotta: 12 years of age (born in Ecuador)
Charlie : 9 years of age (born in New York, raised in Cuba, Ecuador, and New York)
