Rafael Martinez Serrano was the 8th child of Dr Martinez and Rafaela Serrano. At the time of his mother Rafaela’s death in 1892 he would have been about a two year old boy and just four years later at the age of six his father married his second wife Maria Teresa. Years later as an adult he would marry and his wife’s name was Ernestina Aguirre. Ernestina’s brother was Julio Aguirre. Julio Aguirre lived in the US and many North American relatives knew him and his wife and had fond memories of them.  See this separate page on Julio Aguirre.  One of Rafael’s sons was also named Julio. He died a few years ago but his wife Yolanda was present and in the video she talks about him and about their family.

Note that there was some discussion at the end of this video about the fact that Rafael and his wife Ernestina Aguirre were actually distant relatives.   It is understood that the relationship is at least several generations back but we are not aware of any reliable document that describes that lineage in detail.
